devonIanfish25 Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 I found this specimen at Red Hill, PA early last year but have been unable to identify it. It doesn't appear to be a hyneria headplate which was what I believed it to be at first. There are also a few strange looking scales and small bones around the main bone. It could be a hyneria gill cover, or it almost even resembles the fin of a juvenile rhizodont. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
jpc Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Nice find.. no idea what it is. Devonian is getting a bit older than my expertise.
Fossildude19 Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Hello Ian, Did Ted Daeschler have anything to say about this? Cool finds, whatever it may be. Paul1719 Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 Tim, Daeschler said it could be a few different elements but without prepping its not really possible for him to make a call. We're just not sure how to prep it. Its not clear if the surface is part of the fossil.
