fossilized6s Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Ok so i'd like to use my talents to help the forum. I chose this route because I'm totally broke and i don't have many money generating fossils to auction (well at least ones I'm willing to part with at this time ). I'd like to make a pencil drawing of a creature of the forums choice and then auction it off. So what i need from you guys is suggestions. Anything from huge to micro. Then I'll take those suggestions and post a poll for everyone to vote on. I'll stop taking suggestions this Saturday at midnight CST. THANKS GUYS! Here's a drawing i did in 06' of the famous bike builder Indian Larry, just so you know what i can do. I've never done a prehistoric drawing, so it should be fun! ~Charlie~ "There are those that look at things the way they are, and ask why.....i dream of things that never were, and ask why not?" ~RFK ->Get your Mosasaur print ->How to spot a fake Trilobite ->How to identify a CONCRETION from a DINOSAUR EGG
fossilized6s Posted February 10, 2015 Author Posted February 10, 2015 Now i'd rather not draw something that has been over done like Tyrannosaurus, Triceratops, etc. But it's really up to you guys.... Anything from birds to worms, Mammals to dinos, fish to insects. Even a fantasy creature..... ~Charlie~ "There are those that look at things the way they are, and ask why.....i dream of things that never were, and ask why not?" ~RFK ->Get your Mosasaur print ->How to spot a fake Trilobite ->How to identify a CONCRETION from a DINOSAUR EGG
caldigger Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 That's a freakin drawing?!!! Wow it looks like a photo. You got skills son! Whoever gets your drawing is in for a treat.

Thank you. I had a picture to reference for that piece, so drawing something without a photo will be a bit trickier. ~Charlie~ "There are those that look at things the way they are, and ask why.....i dream of things that never were, and ask why not?" ~RFK ->Get your Mosasaur print ->How to spot a fake Trilobite ->How to identify a CONCRETION from a DINOSAUR EGG
PaleoWilliam Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Do a spinosaurus, tyrannosaurus, velociraptor, mosasaur, gigantoraptor or a mammoth. I'm exited to see how it turns out.
Ludwigia Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 How about a Conodont or something from the Burgess Shale or Ediacara fauna or Anomalocaris or Pterygotus? There are lots of intriguing things to choose from. Greetings from the Lake of Constance. Roger http://www.steinkern.de/

There are lots of intriguing things to choose from. Yes, too many things to pick from. Haha! I'll look those up, I'm not sure what they are. Im surprised more people don't want to voice an opinion...... i know there are members on here that would want to see something rendered that hasn't been done. I think you guys are over thinking it. ~Charlie~ "There are those that look at things the way they are, and ask why.....i dream of things that never were, and ask why not?" ~RFK ->Get your Mosasaur print ->How to spot a fake Trilobite ->How to identify a CONCRETION from a DINOSAUR EGG
Jesuslover340 Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Not many illustrations of what we think Spinosaurus looked like now... Machaeridian armored worms do not really have representative illustrations either. Thylacoleo or Diprotodon? Auspex Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Part of a bookcase, with various landmark titles (Darwin's Theory of Evolution, Eldredge & Gould's Punctuated Equalibria, etc.) between ammonite bookends. The books should look well-used. "There has been an alarming increase in the number of things I know nothing about." - Ashleigh Ellwood Brilliant “Try to learn something about everything and everything about something.” - Thomas Henry Huxley >Paleontology is an evolving science. >May your wonders never cease!
fossilized6s Posted February 10, 2015 Author Posted February 10, 2015 Well that's thinking outside of the box Chas. Maybe a desk top scene of Darwin's work space with specimens and notes while he writes the book. ~Charlie~ "There are those that look at things the way they are, and ask why.....i dream of things that never were, and ask why not?" ~RFK ->Get your Mosasaur print ->How to spot a fake Trilobite ->How to identify a CONCRETION from a DINOSAUR EGG

Something along the lines of Thomas Arvid's work comes to mind. https://www.google.com/search?q=arvid&biw=1092&bih=802&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=DYPaVM7yMYGRyAT8toCICQ&ved=0CAYQ_AUoAQ#tbm=isch&q=thomas+arvid+wine Context is critical.
Missourian Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 As for particular organisms, some kind of eurypterid would get my vote. They are the coolest creatures that are completely neglected in pop culture. (I would prefer Adelophthalmus, but that is my personal favorite. ). Context is critical.
PaleoWilliam Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Dimetrodon,ceratosaurus,megalodon,megalosaurus,oviraptor,nanotyranus,trilobites in prehistoric habitat,smilodon,Acrocanthosaurus,Allosaurus,Gorgosaurus or a Utahraptor
jpc Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Wow on the drawing. I like auspex's suggestion.
PFOOLEY Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 A "steampunk" Kelenken guillermoi... "I am glad I shall never be young without wild country to be young in. Of what avail are forty freedoms without a blank spot on the map?" ~Aldo Leopold (1887-1948) New Mexico Museum of Natural History Bulletins

squali Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Oh yes a scene depicting the lab office on the Beagle with Charles in the background You have some real talent looking forward to your drawing. It's hard to remember why you drained the swamp when your surrounded by alligators.
fossilized6s Posted February 10, 2015 Author Posted February 10, 2015 Interesting suggestions guys. I'd rather not do a Megalodon just because it's basically just a giant GW. Mike steampunk is my kind of style. im just not sure if its for everyone. Check out my steampunk goggles and breather i made. ~Charlie~ "There are those that look at things the way they are, and ask why.....i dream of things that never were, and ask why not?" ~RFK ->Get your Mosasaur print ->How to spot a fake Trilobite ->How to identify a CONCRETION from a DINOSAUR EGG
Ludwigia Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 cool! Greetings from the Lake of Constance. Roger http://www.steinkern.de/
xonenine Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 I'm sure to be in the bidding for an ichthyosaur or better still, a pterosaur... "Your serpent of Egypt is bred now of your mud by the operation of your sun; so is your crocodile." Lepidus
fossilized6s Posted February 11, 2015 Author Posted February 11, 2015 Thanks guys for the kind words. I've been racking my brain all day of styles, creatures, layouts, etc. Im genuinely excited. ~Charlie~ "There are those that look at things the way they are, and ask why.....i dream of things that never were, and ask why not?" ~RFK ->Get your Mosasaur print ->How to spot a fake Trilobite ->How to identify a CONCRETION from a DINOSAUR EGG
