S233 Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 Hello everyone, this is seems like a weird topic. However, about 2 out every 5 of dreams that I can recall after sleeping contain fossils. And almost every time I am disappointed or extremely thankful. In many of my dreams I find fossils that are in abnormal quantity and quality, resulting in disappointment of not actually possessing these fossils. On the other hand, just as frequently, I lose or have my fossils broken or destroyed and am devastated at this, but when I wake up I am relieved. Sometimes I even go back to the collection to see if everything is in place. I am simply pondering whether or not other people share these dreams of fossils, if you have a particular dream of fossils that has relevance in your real life feel free to discuss it. : )
Jesuslover340 Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 Not many, but I had one where I found a nice meg tooth along with a few other exciting fossils....woke up and it took me about half an hour to realize (much to my disappointment) that I did not, in actuality, possess them "Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another."-Romans 14:19
MesozoicTourGuide21 Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 I've had them come back to life and chase me around the house, many times..
jpc Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 When I am in the field.. I often have fossil dreams...I find the most incredible stuff on the insd=ides of my eyelids.
Missourian Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 Yes, I've had those, and I hate them. Context is critical.
xonenine Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 i dream of a place filled with like minded people who gather from all over the planet, who tell stories of fossil hunts, and display pictures of fossils in a never-ending procession. There is always more to learn and explore in the dream, there are no boundaries. Then I wake up here... "Your serpent of Egypt is bred now of your mud by the operation of your sun; so is your crocodile." Lepidus
S233 Posted February 16, 2015 Author Posted February 16, 2015 I've had them come back to life and chase me around the house, many times.. Now that I think of this it has happen before. On more than one occasion I have gone through things like time portals and walked around prehistoric animals. Also I have been chased by some, scary... : )
njfossilhunter Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 (edited) As a kid I use to have dreams of a creature that looked alot like a T-Rex chasing me thru the city of new york and no matter where i ran to he would alway find me,,,matter of fact he looked more like Godzilla.....LOL....But my worst nightmare was when someone told me I had to go back to high school....I woke up in a panic,,,,much more scarier than any T-Rex or Godzilla if you ask me. stats Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 When I am in the field.. I often have fossil dreams...I find the most incredible stuff on the insd=ides of my eyelids. I have had this happen many times. Mostly on trips when I'm away from my family, home, and work. Maybe it's the complete immersion... Cheers, Rich
Wrangellian Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 Yes... Probably a lot of us have these dreams. Isn't this one of the characteristics of FAS (Fossil Acquisitiveness Syndrome)? There was another thread a while ago on this topic, probably itself a fossil by now..
Lmshoemaker Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 Absolutely; I even remember a dream that was of a local spot (That had an outcrop that doesn't exist) and when I woke up was pondering what I needed to get ready to go out and check out the spot before coming to the realization that there was no outcrop where I was thinking. It's too bad, because in my dream I was pulling out killer specimens from this spot.
