RichW9090 Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 (edited) Pleistocene Nebraska? Nope. Modern - you can see the remnants of periosteum, particularly in the pits where it couldn't be scraped or brushed off. See a previous thread on this very subject: http://www.thefossilforum.com/index.php?/topic/52575-alligator-prenasalis/ [Edit: I suspect these two posts are about the same specimen, from the same family - they are within a few miles of each other.] Edited February 21, 2015 by RichW9090 The plural of "anecdote" is not "evidence".

luluboo1 Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 Thanks everyone. I thought as much but wanted confirmation even if it's a bummer.
RichW9090 Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 It's a nice little skull, just as a modern comparative specimen. Welcome to your family! Hope that we can contribute to building your kid's interest in paleontology! The plural of "anecdote" is not "evidence".
