Nez Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 Now, I could be wrong, but this looks like a plant to me. Horse tail? Most likely sand wrong. Found by a huge cliff in fruit land Missouri. Let me know if I'm completely wrong. Any input is appreciated ~Nez
Auspex Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 I could see plant here; what size is it? Do you know the geologic age of that area? Nez Posted February 22, 2015 Author Posted February 22, 2015 (edited) Ordovician and/or Silurian if I'm reading the map in my book right. I'll post a picture for size. I've found trilobite s and crinoid stems at the same location. Thank you for your help. Edited February 22, 2015 by Nez
Auspex Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 If that is its geologic age (and it's not washed downstream from younger sediments), then doubt is cast on it being plant material.
