ynot Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 Hey All, I am trying to see if I can get one right. I think this is a Mega-mouth from Shark tooth hill. I looked at the Elasmo site and they list it but say that no confirmed specimen of Mega-mouth has been reported from Shark tooth hill. Could this be the first? Scale in photo is in millimeters. . Thanks for any help, Tony
Troodon Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 I don't think so it looks more like a requiem shark:Physogaleus contortus
obsessed1 Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 I will go with contortus which have serrations. I believe you will find the Megachasma or megamouth teeth lack serrations which I think can be seen in your second photo.

Thanks Auspex, I am not really all that discouraged yet, but I do have a tendency to make bad jokes. ( I think the new post will be right!) Tony

obsessed1 Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 Never give up. You just never know when the next find you make could be the one science has been looking for. I have collected tens of thousands of teeth and learn something new about them or something else on this forum just about every day. That's one of the things that makes this forum so great.
