Hi Everyone,

I am really new to fossils and my kiddo found this on our first field trip. Does this look like anything to anyone? The rock is limestone and I am told it is of the Ordovician period. The area (Utica, Il.) was a shallow sea at that time. It looks like some kind of worm. My fossil book isn't much help. Any thoughts?

Thanks a mil!

Sorry about that... Need to learn my way around here! Thanks for letting me know! :)

Sorry, but it looks more like a mineral inclusion than a fossil, to me.

Fossildude,

Actually, what I was thinking was that it looks like the "Very Hungry Caterpillar" from her kids book. Thanks!
