Geoscout Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 Hi Everyone, I am really new to fossils and my kiddo found this on our first field trip. Does this look like anything to anyone? The rock is limestone and I am told it is of the Ordovician period. The area (Utica, Il.) was a shallow sea at that time. It looks like some kind of worm. My fossil book isn't much help. Any thoughts? Thanks a mil!
Geoscout Posted March 17, 2015 Author Posted March 17, 2015 Sorry about that... Need to learn my way around here! Thanks for letting me know!
Fossildude19 Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 Sorry, but it looks more like a mineral inclusion than a fossil, to me. Geoscout Posted March 17, 2015 Author Posted March 17, 2015 Fossildude, Actually, what I was thinking was that it looks like the "Very Hungry Caterpillar" from her kids book. Thanks!
