I have a hunch that it is a turbation feature, either bio- or geo-.

I do not see anything that resembles a fossil. I grew up in Portage so I know the area very well. Where did you find it?

Icirak,

Both turbation feature and in-filled burrow sound like really good possibilities. It might be helpful to know where it was collected and its composition (rock type?).
