We found this nice little crab Archaeopus vancouverensis at Collishaw Point on Hornby Island (Lambert formation, Upper Cretaceous). We found a few more bits of fossils, but this is the prize winner of the trip.

That is a beauty.

After a serious discussion with the " in house palaeontologist" ( my 10 year old son Dom), we decided to leave it as is. We are a bit worried about damaging some of the legs details and we have very limited experience prepping marine concretions.

A wise decision. On first glance I said to myself that that would be a heckuva prepp job with no guarantee of success.

Yes leave it ,the actual crab seems a bit flaky. If you prep it you would have to treat it and it will not look the same after.

Maybe if you find a few more then attempt the prep.
