New Members jillf Posted April 20, 2015 New Members Posted April 20, 2015 Hi my name is Jill and I am new to the forum. I found this fossil digging in my garden in Cedar Park. I did some research And I believe it to be from the mesozoic era, upper cretaceous. I have different theories if what it could be, crab, turtle, lobster? I would love to know what you all think. Thank you for your help!
Fossildude19 Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 (edited) Hello Jill, and welcome to the Forum. You have what looks to be an interal mold of a bivalve, maybe something similar to Cucullaea gigantea. They are sometimes colloquially referred to (in different places) as "Turtle heads", or "heart clams", and "deer hearts". Neat find. Regards, EDIT - It appears that the Texas Cretaceous ones are called Protocardia texana.
