FireStar Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 I found these when I was exploring a petrified forest. I found a gray piece with a distinctive shape and several agatized porous pieces. They didn't look like the surrounding wood. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Carl Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 (edited) Hmmm... Not sure yet. Can you shoot it end-on as well? Both ends? But that 4th shot definitely looks like agatized dinosaur bone, Edited April 21, 2015 by Carl
FireStar Posted April 21, 2015 Author Posted April 21, 2015 I see these around occasionally, but didn't realize what they were until I saw them from the side and broken. Interesting and pretty inside. My favorites are the orange or red ones.
Carl Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 (edited) Still not sure about that first one but I'm thinking it is not bone. Could be wood, could be non-fossil. And from what I can see all the ones in your new photo could easily pass for dinosaur bone fragments. Edited April 21, 2015 by Carl
ckmullin Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 (edited) Looks like wood to me from the last picture of your first post. I've got similar pieces. Edited April 22, 2015 by ckmullin
