New Members Brittany D. Posted April 23, 2015 New Members Posted April 23, 2015 Hey, I'm Brittany. I'm new to TFF. I have a few questions for those who might have some answers for me. I thank you for the help if you can give it. I was given a gift 15 years ago by my grandfather. I've never researched it. So until just now I didn't know what it was. Well it's an extinct scallop from the Miocene Epoch. My grandfather was on a job and dug it up. It's still encased in sand and earth. Please tell me what you think?. It's larger than my husband's hand.
Fossildude19 Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 No picture posted - we need to see the item to provide any feedback. Make sure it is well lit, in focus, and has a ruler in the picture for size reference. Also, knowing where it was found is key to the identification process. Welcome to the Forum. Jeffrey P Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 I just posted a Miocene scallop from Maryland in my new Tertiary gallery. You may want to compare yours with mine. Tim is right. A picture would be helpful as far as identifying and commenting on your specimen. By the way, Welcome to the Fossil Forum.
