New Members BenR561 Posted April 29, 2015 New Members Posted April 29, 2015 I found this while visiting the peace river a couple weeks ago a couple feet below the river bed. Looks like a tooth of some sort with two vacant holes where the roots may have been. I have no clue what it could be after searching images for a few hours. Thanks for looking.
old bones Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 I took the liberty of cropping and brightening your photos to aid in ID. Welcome to the forum.

old bones Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 It does resemble a tooth, Ben. Hopefully, one of the members who are more familiar with Peace River finds will be able to ID this for you. It may help if you could post some additional photos ( close-up) of other angles.
Diceros Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 The oval-looking one looks a bit like the phyllodont toothplate of the burrfish Chilomycterus, seen from the underside. It's like the porcupine fish Diodon, but its spines are short and broad, and are always erect - those of Diodon are raised when the fish fills itself with air, and puffs itself up like a baloon. Probably from a shallow-water marine habitat in the Miocene.
