New Members imjsun1 Posted May 16, 2015 New Members Posted May 16, 2015 I'm fairly new to collecting mazon creek fossils and I was just wondering what the best way to preserve them is. I've heard that coating the fossils in a thin coat of elmers glue works well. Any suggestions?
jpc Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 I don't think Mazon Ck fossils need any preservatives. Elmer's is bad. It will eventually turn yellow with age. It will also cover up details on your mazon ck fossils, so I would opt for nothing. If you must, use something like Vinac or Butvar. Do a search on this site to find out more about these, They are acetone based and are reversible if you decide you don't like the coating.
Auspex Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 If you are talking about split nodules, it is very unusual for them to need any stabilization.
