Seaforth Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 Hello fellow fossil heads! Tomorrow I'll be doing fossil hunting for Ammonites in France (Cap Blanc Nez). Its supposed to be a rich hunting ground (not to mention a beautifull place) so if the weather holds I will be spending the Sunday on the beach gathering fossils for several hours My Belgian hunting partner & TFF member Kevin H. gave me some helpfull directions on where to look exactly so with any luck I will bring in a nice haul. I'll share pics as soon as I can! Pat

bone2stone Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 Kevins one of your hunting buds? I have not met him but a recent trade with him has me convinced he knows his stuff. Pick that site clean and show us what you come home with. Have fun. Jess B.
Seaforth Posted June 1, 2015 Author Posted June 1, 2015 Well, came home wet & chilled to the bone yesterday after hunting fossils at Cap Blanc Nez under atrocious weather conditions (rain/storm). Sadly most of the beach was covered by a huge amount of sand but we did manage to bring back a nice haul of fossilised sponges and a fair amount of Ammonite frags. Nothing spectacular but still a nice day. Will post some pics when I have downloaded my few pics. The weather was so bad at times I couldnt even hold my camera still. Only when we were about to leave the waether cleared up @Jess, no Kev wasnt my hinting partner this time but you are right he is a very knowledgable dude. And a nice guy to boot! More later my friends! Pat
Manticocerasman Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 Pat, I have something that might be of use: http://www.ulb.ac.be/sciences/dste/sediment/sedimento/notes/sedim_approf/Coupes_geol_Jurasique_Cretace_Boulonnais.pdf This pdf will help you a lot for the determination. Make sure to make some Pic’s of your finds. Next time I will try to come along, it’s been a while that I’ve searched for ammonites. Kevin growing old is mandatory but growing up is optional.
