Foshunter Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 About a year ago my son and I went to a mineral and gem show in Dallas. If you wanted it, it was there along with a few fossil vendors. As we made our way through a maze of tables we spotted a vendor selling palm wood that was about six to eight inches high with the tops rounded exposing the polished interior of the pieces. They were nice enough even for the wife to want them displayed outside of the man cave. The moral of the story if you find something that you can afford and pass it by, the need to kick yourself in the ------ will haunt you forever. Well I passed them by and have lusted over fossil palm posted on the Forum ever since. Yesterday went to visit my son and family in Tyler, Tx for a little Grand Dad time with his girls. On the way there passed a rock shop that we had been by many times but always after hours. I decided to stop on the way back home and glad we did, the owner was about to close shop but allowed me in. I will collect about any thing that will stand still long enough but have resisted the mineral side of the collecting habit. I heard a trumpet sound along with a ray of light from above shining down on a table with several pieces of knock out fossil palm that were on sale at half price----that is good. Any way as the tears of joy left my eyes settled on two awesome pieces to bring home. Rock shop owner said she bought them from an old gentleman in East Texas and they were found close to the Louisiana state line-----TEXAS PALM works for me. They are the right size for placing on a stand for display, to say the least very happy. This time I saw and bought, now they have a new home----Tom Inside is a beautiful blue/gray color Grow Old Kicking And Screaming !!"Don't Tread On Me"
