The rock doesn't look sedimentary to me, and if I'm right its not a fossil. where exactly did you find it?

Weird erosion on a metamorphic rock.

Sorry. Not a fossil.

In the Darling Downs Region of Queensland, if it's not a fossil then what would it be?

Just an amateur idea, but it could be essentially a bubble of less dense material which allowed larger crystals to form. It caught my attention because I have a rock with a similar pattern in it which I use as a doorstop.
