This was given to me with no information on where it was found. I know it's been tumbled. Any help would be appreciated.

I agree with Caldigger. definitely Jasper.

My guess is that this doesn't necessarily preclude it being a coprolite, but it does virtually exclude any proof that it is.

Unless there are plant or bone fragments visible in it. It may take a microscope to tell.

Even with bits of plant or bone and a microscope it would seem like quite a task to differentiate hydro thermal circulation from gastro intestinal circulation in a rock with dendritic structure.

I know of no coprolites preserved in silica. The famous Henry Mountain, UT siliceous "coprolites" are likely nothing of the sort.

When I was in the 8th grade My science teacher took Our class on a field trip to a rockhound's house. We were treated with a wonderful collection of all sorts of great rocks to amaze Us. The one piece that I still remember was an old fashioned beehive shaped coprolite from a predatory dinosaur. It was completely agatized with the main part being a bright red and small pieces of bone in it being yellow with a black outline. The whole thing was around 10 inches wide and 8 inches tall. It is the most beautiful pile of doo-doo I have ever seen!

The 'agatized' part makes me scowl. No chance you have a photograph of this wonder?

probably not coprolite, but it would make a nice broach if cut and polished.

The event took place in 1971 , sorry no photos of it. You can believe it or not but it was as described.
