ynot Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 I'm thinking it looks more like cuprite. If it was cuprit there should be some other copper minerals present , but I see none. Tony
old dead things Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 My opinion was based on these pieces of cuprite I purchased in Tucson last winter. Note one has some green indicating copper, but the other does not. Similarities are in the copper present in Hazelnut's photos and mine. Jim
ynot Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 (edited) Hey Jim, Very nice specimens. In the second picture the metallic luster of the copper in the piece is very apparent, while I do not see that in the piece that Hazelnut posted. Also the structure of the 2 pieces looks different. I still say it is jasper. But a hardness test would solve the question. Tony My opinion was based on these pieces of cuprite I purchased in Tucson last winter.
