Mammoth Foot Bone I.d. Needed Please

Recommended Posts

Posted

Ive always picked up remnants of bones on field trips no matter what condition they may be in (referring to my last ICE AGE gravel quarry trip) for my son to practice his prepping skills. And this find appeared to be no different….that was until late last night and after a good clean up.

Elliot and I could see we may have here something actually intact. We can see no signs of actual breakage as once thought just slight wear around the edges. Also we can see where tendon attachments continue all around the sides of the bone.

So are deductions so far…it is a Wooly Mammoth foot bone but which one.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think it's a mammoth lunar, Darren. See if you agree:

Well now, how does young Master Elliott feel about that?! :)
