Kkoz Posted June 27, 2015 Posted June 27, 2015 Hi, Found this last year on St. John's island in the U.S Virgin Islands. it was inside of the attached conch shell, which was half buried in mud/clay about 200 yards from the beach in an area many artifacts of early people have been found. They were pottery and tools 4000-6000 years old i believe. It looks like some kind of tooth and is about 1.5 inches long. It broke a few times and i fixed it. I found the conch and kept it and it was full of hardened mud, when i cleaned it out about 3 of these came out, but unfortunately 2 went down the drain.
Fossildude19 Posted June 27, 2015 Posted June 27, 2015 (edited) Looks like a fish spine. Regards, EDIT: I took the liberty of brightening the photo of the entire specimen. Maybe some others will weigh in, but I think it is a fish spine.
