bone2stone Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 Had the opportunity to get out this weekend (Saturday) to the spillway. Access still blocked off. There is access about .5 mile down stream. I did not make it all the way to the flats. (Legs give out deep mud) I managed a few meager specimens of irregular echinoids and a couple of ammonites nothing to brag about. I guess I will wait another week maybe they will open it up this coming week. The water was not flowing in a manner to have any detrimental problems to pedestrian traffic but there is no place to park the vehicle. Down stream, yes there is parking and access. The only notable find was a huge Red eared "Slider" turtle. Oh and some deer prints in the mud. That close to a dense population is not unusual but still not that common here. Have a good day, till next time. Jess B.
Uncle Siphuncle Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 You may have clobbered a few Hemiaster whitei up yonder... Grüße, Daniel A. Wöhr aus Südtexas "To the motivated go the spoils."
DinoMike Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 Bone2stone, I think I ran into that turtle's cousin at Sulphur River yesterday.
bone2stone Posted June 30, 2015 Author Posted June 30, 2015 You may have clobbered a few Hemiaster whitei up yonder... Yep they were everywhere but I was on the search for Salenias. Not a one. Did not stay long, knees gave out before my want. Jess B.
