nathanzx10r Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 (edited) As some of you know I took a road trip to Utah & Wyoming to get some dig time in over the holiday weekend last month. Just thought I would share my find now that it is all prep'd out, Thanks George! I have named him "Floater" 12" Phareodus testis found in the split rock @ Warfield. As found... After prep in its new home... Edited July 2, 2015 by nathanzx10r

Too Many Choices Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 snarge! That's a fantastic find! Scale detail is incredible!
RJB Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 I haven't dug any of the split fish layers for some time, but that is one gorgous specimen!!! RB
Shamalama Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 Man o man that is a great find. Congrats! -Dave __________________________________________________ Geologists on the whole are inconsistent drivers. digit Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 That's a stunner! George is a great guy and does really fine prep work. I've seen his garage where he stores all the pieces that he works during the long cold winter when the quarries are closed. He gets lots of practice prepping. That's a prettier specimen than I've been able to pull from the Green River formation--you should be quite proud of that one. Cheers. -Ken
snolly50 Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 (edited) That is a lovely piece and display. Please detail the steps/techniques employed in prep. Edit: I just noted from Digit's post it was prepped by someone else, but do post the info if you have it. RJB Posted July 3, 2015 Posted July 3, 2015 Hey Nathan, I just happen to have a 20 dollar bill burning a hole in my pocket. I will trade you that 20 and even all the change in my ashtray for that little ole fish. Ha!!! Just kidding. I had to come back and look at this beauty again! RB
nathanzx10r Posted July 3, 2015 Author Posted July 3, 2015 Thanks everyone, it was a thrill to find. $20 bucks huh...hhhmmmmmmmmm LOL

nathanzx10r Posted July 6, 2015 Author Posted July 6, 2015 (edited) That is a lovely piece and display. Please detail the steps/techniques employed in prep. Edit: I just noted from Digit's post it was prepped by someone else, but do post the info if you have it. Well, it was pretty extensive... I had to dig deep enough to pay someone that knows what they are doing LOL. That was not the fish I wanted to practice my prep on :-) Edited July 6, 2015 by nathanzx10r
Ludwigia Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Fantastic preservation and detail! What a great find. That was a wise decision to invest in a good preparation as well. Greetings from the Lake of Constance. Roger http://www.steinkern.de/
