Runner64 Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 So I have been in Myrtle Beach this past week and have collected roughly 200 shark teeth. Only problem is I know nothing about shark teeth so I was wondering if any of you could ID some of the types This is the overview of some of the types. Row 1. these teeth are really small, enamel is light grey. No serrations I can see Row 2. these ones are wider but are more compressed. They don't have serrations. Row 3. This one is pointy. Small serrations are present. Row 4. pointy, curves a little. Serrations aren't apparent to the naked eye.
Runner64 Posted July 4, 2015 Author Posted July 4, 2015 Row 5/6: these are long and pointy, very distinguishable from the others. I have lots of these and some are curvy, kind of like this ~. Row 7. these teeth appear to have straight lines. Serrations start from the top corners to the tip. Row 8. these two might be the same as the ones above they just appear more curvy. Row 9. none of my other teeth look like this one. Tip seems faded, root is tan/brown and appears large.
Runner64 Posted July 4, 2015 Author Posted July 4, 2015 Row 10. crown is curvy and has two smaller teeth looking things next to it(sorry I don't know what they're called). Row 11. now this one is really interesting, it has a large root and a small crown, again it has those two small teeth things. No serrations to naked eye. Sorry if this was really long, I wanted to give as much info as possible. Thanks in advance and can hopefully answer any questions you have.
bkstyl Posted July 14, 2015 Posted July 14, 2015 Here is a guide to NC/SC teeth which might help a little: http://www.fossilguy.com/id_papers/fossil_identification_miocene_pliocene_NC.pdf
