RickNC Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 I have been searching a river in E. NC and have come across an area that appears to be primarily Cretaceous based on my findings. A couple days ago I pulled out the two specimens below. I believe the first one to be a cephalic hook and the second a tooth. I have never found any hybodontid shark material before so I may be way off base. Obviously both pieces are incomplete. The part of this that is facing up in this picture appears to be enameled:
Al Dente Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 I think you are correct in your identifications. Nice finds.
John Hamilton Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 Rick, The the tooth is definitely hybodont but I'm not sure on the cephalic hook.
Fossildude19 Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 Very cool finds, Rick! Thanks for posting them.
