Triceratops Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 I'm afraid there's no picture to go on. Have a look on the forum's help directory if you're stuck:-) 1 -Lyall

njfossilhunter Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 (edited) Do you know the formation and area these comes from .....That may help. To me the first one it looks like a dino coprolite that I have New Mexico from Jurassic Can't tell you what formation because I found it in float. The other I can't say for sure. Carl Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 Sure could be coprolites, But could just as easily be some other kind of fossil or non-fossil. Like njfossilhunter says: we need more context. Were these things collected?
New Members Luv2beeme Posted July 22, 2015 Author New Members Posted July 22, 2015 Thanks, They are embedded in shale on Hornby Island British Columbia. The beach at that location is mostly layer upon layer of flat rock. They were not removed. This is a pic of the rock on the beach.
Carl Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 I don't know the fossils of Hornby but it certainly looks like a place with the potential to preserve coprolites.
Troodon Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Hornby island fauna I believe is cretaceous marine. Lots of great shark material is found there.
GeschWhat Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 Looks like coprolite to me! Lori www.areallycrappystory.com/fossils www.facebook.com/fossilpoo
