I'm attaching a couple of views of a rock my dad picked up in a tributary of the Kentucky River.

I believe this area is surveyed as primarily the Ordovidian era, and it's not too far from an area where I've found tons of fantastic coral fossils.

It's very dense, and it struck me immediately as a possible endocast, because it reminded me of a brain scan on the "flat" end.

I just wanted to know if others had any thoughts about what this might be?

Thanks!

Geodes are very common in central Kentucky and the Kentucky River cuts through it carrying them down into more northern Counties of Ordovician age. They were formed in Mississippian age rocks of more southern counties. It looks like botryoidal Chalcedony, (Quartz). It may have been a fossil (like coral) but the geodization has destroyed all fossil fabric.

I have a couple brain endocasts.

You would see more of a brain like shape and some of the shape of the brain wrinkles.

Attached is a picture of an oreodont brain endocast that I have. Not a great picture but I am out of town so it will have to do.

Notice the brain shape and that you can see the folds in the brain.

While i am no expert, this is typical of most brain endocasts that I have seen.
