Need Help With An Id

My dad found this in 1933 in summers county wv. It's fish shaped and has a spiny texture..the tips around the edges appear to have quartz tips..I've been told to cut it it's probably geodes but I like it the way it is..don't have the heart to cut it..

Doesn't appear to be a fossil. Have you tried applying a drop of white vinegar to the surface? If it's one of the 300-plus forms of calcite crystals, you should get some fizzing.

Tried the vinegar it didn't fizz just looked like I dropped water on it

It looks like something mineral to me also, maybe some form of Barite.
