ravensimage Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 My dad found this in 1933 in summers county wv. It's fish shaped and has a spiny texture..the tips around the edges appear to have quartz tips..I've been told to cut it it's probably geodes but I like it the way it is..don't have the heart to cut it..
Harry Pristis Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 Doesn't appear to be a fossil. Have you tried applying a drop of white vinegar to the surface? If it's one of the 300-plus forms of calcite crystals, you should get some fizzing. 1 http://pristis.wix.com/the-demijohn-page What seest thou else In the dark backward and abysm of time? ---Shakespeare, The Tempest

Herb Posted August 15, 2015 Posted August 15, 2015 It looks like something mineral to me also, maybe some form of Barite.
