I've been reading posts on this site for s few weeks now and I love reading and seeing the pictures of rocks that people post so please rub it in my face if this is merely a rock

ynot Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 Looks like a bone fragment with a manganese concretion on it. Here is a shark tooth with the same type of concretion on it for comparison. Tony
JohnJ Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 It's an interesting piece. Try setting it, again, on a solid surface to photograph it. Two sources of movement (hands) rarely result in a clear image. The human mind has the ability to believe anything is true. - JJ
Carl Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 It looks like something we find in the Cretaceous of NJ: a steinkern of clionid sponge galleries attached to a bivalve steinkern, likely the one that the clionid occupied. 1
