Rockaholic Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 First, would I be correct in describing these fossils as terminal pinnules of Neuropteris-like pinnae and if these are terminal pinnules can they be more precisely identified. Is the first fossil a terminal pinnule of Macroneuropteris scheuchzeri? The second fossil is uniquely different in form but I don’t have a clue as to its identity.
Rockaholic Posted August 16, 2015 Author Posted August 16, 2015 I just want to confirm that these are best described as Calamites. The vertical ribs are obscure except near the nodes were uniform rib patterns become more obvious. Are these external compression impressions vs the internal molds or pith casts that are often identified as Calamites?
Rockaholic Posted August 16, 2015 Author Posted August 16, 2015 I thought I’d also share the photos of these finds. This is a multilayered Neuropteris nodule. Front and back. Also another shrimp.
