Guguita2104 Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 I don't know if my Id's are correct,so,can someone help me? 1-Colonial coral. About this I don't have any more idea, because it was gave to me. 2-Pholadomya sp.? I found this bivalve in Praia da Polvoeira, at Sinemurian layers.
Guguita2104 Posted September 8, 2015 Author Posted September 8, 2015 (edited) 3-Gryphaea sp.? I also found this in the same Sinemurian layers, where Gryphaea fossil are very caracteristics. 4-Ansiocardia clarissima. Sinemurian layers, Polvoeira Beach. 5-Tylostoma. Abou this, I just know it came from a sand extraction, so (analyzing the geology of the region), the animal lived between Cretaceous period and Quaternary era. Edited September 8, 2015 by Guguita2104
Guguita2104 Posted September 8, 2015 Author Posted September 8, 2015 I forgot to say that Tylostoma came from Alcanede.
GeschWhat Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 I don't know what Ansilocardia clarissima is, but #4 looks like a coprolite to me. Lori www.areallycrappystory.com/fossils www.facebook.com/fossilpoo
Guguita2104 Posted September 8, 2015 Author Posted September 8, 2015 Sorry, my bad...Ansiocardia clarissima. Thanks for help, but it's not definetely a coprolite, but a bivalve wich I'm not sure about ID.
Ludwigia Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 (edited) Hi. Here's my 2 cents. 1. Coral is correct. Perhaps Thecosmilia. Upper Jurassic? 2. Correct. 3. Correct. 4. What you mean is Anisocardia. That may be right, but you would need to expose the hinges to be certain. Finding the species is difficult. I would leave it at A. sp. 5. Sorry, I can't help you further there since I'm not familiar with the fauna from this age. It would however be extremely difficult to get the id past the generic name since it's a mold with no external features, so you can only base the id on the form.
