Western Colorado--Jaw Bone Or Rock?

Recommended Posts

Posted

Found in central western Colorado. I almost left this one behind, but went back for it, so unusual and makeup of the rock was unlike anything within surrounding terrain. Sort of looks like a jaw, but sort of looks like concrete. There were no roads, no dumping, no structures or any sign of humans, so very odd if it is concrete. But then, there are those striations.....thanks for any clues. About 5 1/2" long.

What a curious object!

This angle in particular:

does look like cement, with its "slickness", air bubbled, and repeating pattern.

I think it is a sand concretion, but have no idea what could have made the pattern in the fourth picture.
