China Trilobite (coronocephalus)

This type of Trilobite is common, but well preserved is rare

This one is about 6.5cm long, from Silurian layer, Sandong province, China.

It is not 100% complete, and is not perfect.

This type of trilobite has double spines (Upper and Lower)

I know, there is no such thing as perfection, but yours certainly has more than my two examples.

One of these trilos just arrived in the mail so I thought I'd have a look on the Forum to see other examples of them. This is a great one! Mine is nowhere near as well preserved as yours. It needs some cleaning too.

I've posted in "fossil prep" and "fossil ID" to get an idea of what I can do to clean it and some info on it. Looks like I maybe able to remove some of the matrix over the cephalon. When I get an air scribe that is....

Yea, they seem to fall apart quite easily... Except for the pygidium which is almost always intact! Maybe they should be called the "Iron butt" trilobite...
