I'll attach one of your images here; it will get better attention than an off-site link:

I would leave the other two alone. The one that Auspex attached probably could benefit with some cleanup around exposed specimens.

To revive this thread a little I tried to expose a little bit of the trilobite fragments but wasn't working out too well so I stopped. I did however split one of the less interesting pieces and exposed another coral and something else I'm not sure of yet. Just ordered devonian fossils of new york state for reference. Anyway the fossils are in very delicate sandstone and it seems this area has tons of fragmented trilos. Should I try splitting more or just leave them be? One of the larger pieces has a few what looks like compound eyes of a large trilo and that dimpled looking "nose".

This one is a very cool imprint of a Pleurodictyum americanum coral.

I wouldn't touch this one, either.

Excellent thank you. You seem to be a fan of dead fish are there any in New York state?

Posted

Devonian fish teeth and placoderm armor.

I have seen some here on the forum. I think the NYPS takes field trips to a quarry where you can find Onchyodus ?teeth.
