A few days back I saw a Mastodon foot drawing in another thread and thought one of my unknown bones might fit as a "foot pad" ...

The drawing:

As I was tossing the footpad back into the unknowns box, I saw this one and thought hmmmm. I guess I am seeing Mastodon toe bones everywhere.

Hey Jack,

I can't tell for sure about your second one. Here's one I found the other day that I think fits in your line drawing as well.

garyc: Yours looks like a worn astragalus to me.

Interesting finds Jack...cant offer anything ID wise but I enjoy seeing the oddities and unknowns. I ran across a blob mid-week at work and thought I need that and brought it home--like I need another unknown to wonder about.

Keep after them! Hoping one of the experts will see your post and chime in.

Regards, Chris

Hmmmm.....well, I wasn't trying to hijack your thread Jack. I really thought mine just fit into your drawing. Thanks Typhis and Jack for offering other suggestions.

Thanks Ziggie,

No problem Gary, This one is not getting a lot of identification attention. I kinda of doubt if the "pad" is Mastodon, but the little toe bone maybe... There are not a lot of these toe bones on the internet to find:

A large photo,

and then a blowup of the little toe...

The fourth picture of your second bone (not the one you're calling a pad) sure does look like the blow up. And I checked sloth astragali for mine, but I think it looks more like a proboscidean astragalus.
