It is definitely a Diplomystus dentatus

Knightia have a much smaller anal fin.

Regards,

EDIT: Ooops!! Seth beat me to it. ;)

Knightia Diplomystus

Yes, Diplomystus. On your piece the diagnostic ribbon-like anal fin is poorly preserved, but it is certainly recognizable.

Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, also are remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so. - Douglas Adams, Last Chance to See

Thanks all for your input. The anal fin was the key. Agree that the head was a bit scrunched. Considering its age and who knows what happened in between, it's surprising it's still in one piece! Still it will make a nice gift to someone.

Now for a couple more questions:

1. What should I coat it with to get rid of the dust every time I pick it up as well as preserve it?

2. My other question is framing it. Who has experience framing these things and what would you recommend?

Rockchopper,

Your 1st question was answered in your previous thread. :)
