old dead things
Two days ago I was collecting ammonites, baculites and clams wearing springtime clothing. It was a beautiful day, no wind, low 70's and new fossils sprouting out of the ground. Pictures from this morning (April 26) mean that springtime clothing will be the snow boots, a heavy coat and gloves........gawd I love springtime in Wyoming. I have a show in Billings, Montana this week end and the forecast is for another 8 inches of snow today. This is why fossil collectors don't come to Wyoming in April and May to collect. When we warn you it is too early.............it is too early. These fish all need to be dipped, but it is too cold. The garage is unheated and a drying temperature in the fifties is preferred. (30 right now) I dip all my Green River formation fish in a mixture of Elmer's glue and water to preserve and to eliminate that limestone dust. sseth
Looks cold! I keep thinking it will warm up your direction so I can get out and dig. Stay warm. _____________________________________ Seth www.fossilshack.com www.americanfossil.com www.fishdig.com
FossilDudeCO
Wow Jim, that is quite a pile! I have been eagerly awaiting the weather to warm so I can come dig!
jpc
And Jim lives at 5000 feet... the famous fish quarries are at 7000 feet, so you know they got more snow than we did in Casper.
