Iguanodonfossil
Hi, I haven't posted on here in a while however I have been working hard on a few things. For now have a specimen study drawing of a pleistocene hyena carnassial molar. The original specimen was found within Tornewton Cave (Devon UK) which is a well known site for many pleistocene age remains including hyenas. These are inspired by William Buckland's drawings of similar specimens, I have used the same techniques and materials to achieve the desired effect. Enjoy!

DPS Ammonite
Wonderful. Is it drawn with a soft charcoal pencil or stick? Charcoal is so wonderful to work with because you can easily erase it and redraw which I would have to do if I had to draw a fossil. My goal is to leave no stone or fossil unturned. Iguanodonfossil
Wonderful. Is it drawn with a soft charcoal pencil or stick? Charcoal is so wonderful to work with because you can easily erase it and redraw which I would have to do if I had to draw a fossil. It's drawn using graphite, india ink and graphite dust/powder which you use for the very fine detailing/mix slightly in water to create a very subtle shading. I don't tend to use charcoal as much unless I want to be expressive with my mark making. I do all of the sketching, line work and erasing etc on scrap paper, because I use real parchment paper for the "final piece" and if you stuff it up on that there is no going back.
