belemniten
I have a short question about this item from the quarry Kromer in Holzmaden, Lower jurassic. Is this a tooth ? The form is right ... but the color looks wrong Thanks for your help ! The stone is 7 cm long: And the possible tooth is about 1 cm long. Many greetings from Germany ! TqB
Hi Sebastian, It's hard to be sure from a photo but it appears to show crystal boundaries and looks like calcite. I don't know what it is... Tarquin

LordTrilobite
Looks like it could be a fish tooth. Olof Moleman AKA Lord Trilobite
Mike from North Queensland
Looking at the close up photo the base of the tooth in question looks wrong for a tooth as it appears rounded. Maybe a sea urchin spine as there also seems to be a lot more material visible in the photo. Additional cleaning in the area could produce something. Troodon
Can you take any sharper photos? Agreed some additional cleaning would help. I'm leaning toward a tooth because of the apparent curvature on the crown.

I dont think this is a sea urchin spine ... They are very rare and i never see a specimen with this preservation. I will try to make better photos .... but i am leaning also toward a tooth because the form looks right .... Many greetings from Germany !
