Rank Amateur Posted December 18, 2017 Posted December 18, 2017 I got this from the same estate I got everything else. This came to me with no information. From the little I've learned this is a Trilobite Eldredgeops Rana? Am I right? If not, what is it? It is 3 mm long. Thank you, everyone and Merry Christmas!
Douvilleiceras Posted December 18, 2017 Posted December 18, 2017 Not Eldredgeops rana, it's the common Elrathia kingii, likely from the Middle Cambrian Wheeler Shale of Utah where they are commercially extracted by the thousands. E. rana is a phacopid with schizochroal eyes, 11 segments, and an enlarged glabella - features not exhibited by your trilobite. 6 Regards, Jason "Trilobites survived for a total of three hundred million years, almost the whole duration of the Palaeozoic era: who are we johnny-come-latelies to label them as either ‘primitive’ or ‘unsuccessful’? Men have so far survived half a per cent as long." - Richard Fortey, Trilobite: Eyewitness to Evolution.
