Carl Posted December 21, 2017 Posted December 21, 2017 Hi All, I'm not sure if this is the best place to do this but I am putting out a call to collectors of the Atlantic Coastal Plain for plesiosaur specimens. A project is starting to address the taxonomy and stratigraphy of this poorly known but iconic and widespread group in the eastern US. We are starting by trying to document everything that exists in various collections, including private. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated! Please spread this around to anyone you might think could add to our tally. Please PM me with any information. Happy Holidays! @non-remanié @jpevahouse @wetwilly @Trevor @njfossilhunter @Darwin Ahoy @erose @frankh8147 @bucky 1
JarrodB Posted December 21, 2017 Posted December 21, 2017 I'm interested to see this. I have a few nice pieces I found in Texas.

frankh8147 Posted December 22, 2017 Posted December 22, 2017 Hey Carl, Happy holidays! This sounds really interesting, I'm sending you a message. For the folks coming to this topic to see Atlantic Coastal Plesiosaur material; here is some of mine. All of these have been confirmed except the top right vert. Also, that vertabrae slightly in the picture on the far right is Mosasaur - it photo-bombed my picture and I didn't notice it until now. 1
sixgill pete Posted December 23, 2017 Posted December 23, 2017 Here is a link to a caudal vert I found here in N.C. garyc Posted December 23, 2017 Posted December 23, 2017 Here's a broken plesiosaur vert from the North Sulphur River, TX. edit: just saw you're looking for Atlantic coastal plain, so if you don't care about my feelings being hurt you can disregard this
Jeffrey P Posted December 23, 2017 Posted December 23, 2017 Another New Jersey plessy vert. This one is from the Ramanessin. 1

We are looking for anything that can be IDed as plesiosaur. At this stage of the project we haven't worked out disposition yet.

non-remanié Posted January 2, 2018 Posted January 2, 2018 Carl, I talked to Ralph. I will bring material to MAPS when the researcher visits. The more interesting pieces are far from perfect and would likely need to be seen in person anyway. 1 ---Wie Wasser schleift den Stein, wir steigen und fallen---

FossilDAWG Posted January 6, 2018 Posted January 6, 2018 Carl, is eastern/central Alabama outside your area of interest? Don
Carl Posted January 8, 2018 Author Posted January 8, 2018 Not sure, any more, Don. I suspect that will get absorbed into this thing now, too!

It’s small but a complete crown.
