Max-fossils
Hi all, For my birthday (some days ago, the 16th) I got a fantastic fossil fish from my sister! Behold, a Dapalis macrurus from the location Céreste (France). It’s from the Rupelian stage of the Oligocene (30 my). Now I was just wondering if anyone knew which formation this fish comes from? I’d love to have that info! Best regards, Max Max Derème "I feel an echo of the lightning each time I find a fossil. gigantoraptor
Hello Max, I wish you a late happy birthday and congrats on the beautifel fish. The fossils in Céreste are found in the 'Calcaires de Montfuron' or 'Calcaires de Vachères'. Both are middle Oligocene. Greetings

Is there a way to know which one of the two formations my fish is from? Max Derème "I feel an echo of the lightning each time I find a fossil. Hello Max, So far I've only heard from Dapalis in the Calcaires de Montfuron and other locations, but I am not sure they are not found in the other one also.

Ok thanks. I'll put it then as "Calcaires de Montfuron (?)" on my label. Max Derème "I feel an echo of the lightning each time I find a fossil.
