Alex Pritchard
I'm interested in this skull, I have always wanted a Halisaurus specimen! Region -Morocco, Khoribga Size- 16.93 Inches This skull looks good to me, but is obviously missing parts, such as the rear of the lower jaw, some teeth, areas around the Eyes2. I'd like to get people's opinions if possible? The seller is very honest, and trustworthy in my opinion, The skull does look like its gone a few rounds in a ring, however this is my holy grail and something I've wanted since being a kid! which is what its all about right? However, I don't want the 5 year old within me to make silly judgments as it is listed for just over a grand. Is the skull a composite? Worth restoring myself? Genuine but rough? Worth obsessing over? I know it's one of those things were people will say "well it all depends on how much it is worth to you" however I don't want my naivety to cause me getting ripped off. Thanks for the help!

jnoun11
hi not even a skull, obviously its bad, prognathodon teeth everywhere , snake vertebrae instead a basisphenoid. this skull didn't deserved the name of halisaurus. 5 The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it. Even all the teeth were inserted to try to simulate something real! It is extremely different from what a Halisaurus Skull really looks like. This one you posted here is a lousy compound of several different specimens bones in an attempt to mount a skull of something. My recommendation to you, my dear friend, is to pass you away from this. But I do not rule out the possibility that there is anything real about this skull, but the fact is that it is as bad as it really could be. However, do not give up on your dreams, there are excellent specimens out there! 2 Is It real, or it's not real, that's the question!

JohnJ
As @jnoun11 and @Seguidora-de-Isis have mentioned, this is not a mosasaur skull. It is "art" made of bits of who knows what.... 2 The human mind has the ability to believe anything is true. - JJ
LordTrilobite
Ugh, that's horrid. Exactly what Jnoun said. Probably stay away from this one. Olof Moleman AKA Lord Trilobite

Aurelius
I saw that, and wondered what the heck I was looking at. There's a lot to like about it, in terms of the jaws, premaxilla etc (even with the wrong teeth), and who knows, some of the other bones may be associated. If it were a fraction of the price I'd buy it and try to separate out the genuine bits. But for that price; absolutely no way. I don't think the seller knows. Completely agree, only the teeth gave me warning signs to ask on here, as I thought it could of been just a bad prep job holding potential for a remount. I'm glad that members on here are way more experience with mosasaurids as they are something I'm only just looking in to properly. Although I've always wanted one. I did speak with the seller before I seeked advice on here, and im pretty sure he is 100 percent unaware. He's always been a very sound and an honest person to deal with and I doubt would williningly mislead people. Everything I've purchased before has been 100 percent genuine which made me consider this one at first. He even divulged the price he acquired it for, so I'd like to hope it's just a case of he himself not being an expert and being mislead.

You could let the seller know the bad news, good sellers would probably wont to know the truth and not to deceive anyone in the future . I am glad you posted before you purchased ( try before you buy)
Pemphix
This "Skull" is nothing like a chimera of different species as already stated, imo. Nice artwork
RJB
I dont know skulls from a hole in the ground, but with my prep experience and been around the block a time or two, this one was obvious. Very glad you asked about it here on the forum. Lots of peeps who know their stuff. RB

Bobby Rico
Good to ask questions before buying. I have been collecting fossils for 25years but probably learned more about Identifying them in the year and a half of been a member of TFF . This sculpture is not the worst I have seen . There are some bad things out there like the Spinosaurus jaws that are rib bones with drilled holes and with added Spinosaurus teeth poking out of them.

daves64
Think these guy's took the stickers off of rubix cubes to make it look like they solved it?
