The sponge is somewhat common over a wide area north of Payson if you know what part of the Naco to look in. This is the best piece out of several dozen pieces that I have found.

I discovered the Chaunactis site in Payson back in 1996. I found the exact horizon of the silica rich deposits and have seen only about 15 complete circular specimens Soo far. Great to see you all enthused by them. My professor Dave Elliott surprised me while giving  a lecture on the new naco site and I'm sitting in my chair speechless when I see this up on the screen with my name after it!
