Our Commitment To Privacy

Data protection is of the utmost importance for The Fossil Forum. Through this privacy policy, we would like to inform the general public of the nature, scope, and purpose of the personal data we collect, use, and process. Furthermore, users are informed of their rights in this policy.

Cookies

The Fossil Forum uses cookies. Cookies are text files stored in a computer system via an Internet browser. Our cookies aim to provide users with a more user-friendly experience on the website. Users can manage cookie settings through their browser. However, deactivating cookies may limit certain website functions.

Collection of General Data and Information

When users access The Fossil Forum, general data and information are collected, including (but not limited to) browser types, IP addresses, and access times. This data is used to deliver content, optimize the website, ensure system viability, and aid law enforcement in the event of cyber-attacks or other illegal behavior.

Registration on The Fossil Forum

During registration, users provide an email address, a user-defined display name, and a password. This information is used solely to create and manage user accounts. After registration, members may be prompted to fill out additional optional profile information.

Rights of Registered Members

All registered members have the right to request the deletion of personally identifiable data at any time. Members may do so by logging into their account and going to account settings > Security and Privacy > Account Deletion. Alternately, an email can be sent to admin@thefossilforum.com requesting account deletion. Please note: deletion requests coming via email must come from the email that was used to register the account for identity verification purposes. Upon approval of an account deletion request, personally identifiable information will be deleted, including IP addresses, email address, profile information and password. Content (topics, posts, images and more) will then be automatically anonymized to maintain the flow and structure of conversations and other archived data that is not personally identifiable.

Subscription to Newsletters

Users may opt-in for newsletters during registration. The Fossil Forum occasionally sends newsletters about website or community updates. Newsletter subscribers' email addresses are used exclusively for this purpose.
