Latiphyllia sp. (DeFromentel 1861)


Ludwigia

It's the one on the right. A few branches of Thecosmilia are attached on the left and in the middle. From Gerstetten near Aalen, Germany. Mergelstetten Formation, uppermost Kimmeridgian. These corals are silicified, so you can dissolve the limestone in which they are imbedded with sulfuric acid in order to retrieve them.
