Found a shark tooth today with my friend at the creek.... we were swimming in the creek and decided that we should go back... HOT!!!!! then i found this tooth. this tooth belonged to a crusher shark from long ago, the other name for this tooth is PTYCHODUS...very cool probably these teeth belonged to a shark similar to this....

Ray being one of a family similar to shark in that they were lacking sufficient calcium in their skeleton to fossilize. Some species did however have enough in their structure to fossilize verts and give us some highly collectable specimens.

As John points out the shark is definitely a good comparative family. The Welton/Farrish publication is a must have for any "Shark Tooth" collector.

The Shark connection is a 2008 theory purely hypothetical.
