Turritella perexilis Conrad, 1875

Location: APAC, Sarasota County, Florida USA.

Notes: Highly variable ornamentation. Similar to the younger T. subannulata from the Caloosahatchee but more stout.

Well done on the identification here. "T. perexilis" has largely been forgotten ever since Heilprin published his T. subannulata - but perexilis takes precedent.

I try to keep up with the literature.  Ward & Blackwelder first synonymized T. subannulata with T. perexilis and Campbell (1993) agreed.
