Xinpusaurus sp., a Thalattosaur

oilshale

Not an Ichthyosaur but an unprepped Thalattosaurus (Xinpusaurus sp.) from the Falang Formation (Triassic) of Guiyang, in Guizhou, PRC.  Xinpusaurus can be easily distinguished from an ichthyosaur like Mixosaurus by the extreme overbite: The upper jaw is almost twice as long as the lower jaw. Will need a lot of prep work.

Length ~ 60cm
