Hi! Its been awhile since I posted. I found this vertebra near Tybee Island in the Savannah River. Its about 6 inches long and 3 inches thick. Anyone has any idea what it might have belonged to? Thanks !

Found this vertebra its about 3 inches long. I'm thinking maybe dolphin? If anyone has any idea what it belonged to? Thanks!

I recently found this in a creek in Gainesville, FL and would like to figure out what it is. My best guess would be a worn-down beaver incisor, but it could just be an oddly broken bone for all I know. The 'tip' looks like it had repeated wear in life, and the 'root' has two circular indentations. The cross section is 14mm at the 'root', and the indentations are roughly 4.5mm diameter each. Let me know if there's any more info that could help. Thanks so much!

Hey folks, during my trips through Sweden and Norway I collected some (many) rocks. But some are not easy to determine, or I simply don't have a clue, so I hope you can help me. I am happy to provide more pictures if necessary. 1: Found in Näs bruk, Avesta municipality, Sweden. Looks like gneiss with garnet or a granulite? 2: Found also in Näs bruk. Similar to Leptite? 3: Also found in Näs bruk. The green intrusion looks 'olivinish"!? 4: Also found in Näs bruk. No clue. 5: Also found in Näs bruk. 6: Found in Skipsfjorden on the island Mageroya in Finnmark, Norway. Skarn? 7: Found in Näs bruk. 8: Also 9: Found at Kirkeporten, Skarsvag, Norway. I found this late this summer in Emerald Isle, NC (prior to Florence). My family lives there and we are all avid sharks tooth and beach fossil collectors. We are divided as to whether this is a sharks tooth and I would love to hear some opinions! Thank you! Hopefully the experts here can help settle this discussion once and for all!

Real Psittacosaurus Skull?

So this has cropped up on an auction site. My friend is tempted by it, however I believe it to just be a rock. It is claimed to be a Psittacosaur Skull. The seller claims that they acquired it off a 'geologist' however to me, it looks like an eroded rock, and lacks any characteristics of being a skull? I feel like it could potentially mislead uninformed newbies? Pictures aren't fantastic. I could be totally wrong of course, however can anyone else see if it is a skull or not?

Hi! I have some smaller 2-3 cm mosasaur teeth, and I Wonder if these 5 teeth are halisaurus teeth? I feel pretty certain with The first one but im not so sure about the other four.

So I recently purchased this ammonite off of the popular auction site for a good price, not something I usually do, but it looked nice and was already out onto a plinth. Unfortunately the seller doesn’t know where or when it was collected, and my knowledge only really expands along the yorkshirecoast in the U.K. I was wondering if anybody could help me with identification please. Thanks.

Hello i went to the river today in central alberta and found these fossils i believe one is petrified wood but it also has a translucent mineral in it?? I think?? And orange mineral around it which i assume is sap amber??? the size of these rocks are around a baseball please help identify all of them and offer info ill greatly appreciate it first two pictures are of opposite sides same as the other two.

Hello, I just got back from my first fossil hunting trip and am hoping to get a little help to ID some of my finds. These were found on Manitoulin Island off HWY 6 & New England Rd, I`m sure a few people on here have already been there. I didn`t do any digging or picking but I managed to find a few specimens laying around worth bringing home. Fossil #1 Approx 6cm by 6cm total, gonna take a wild guess that it`s some sort of shell Fossil #2 Approx 7cm by 11cm total, looks like corral to me, lots of little bits in the area like this but this was the nicest one I found Fossil #3 Approx 5cm by 3cm total, no idea what this could be Fossil #4 Approx 12cm by 14cm total, again have no idea what these could be Fossil #5 Approx 7cm by 5cm total, possible the tip of a larger shell? Fossil? #6 Approx 12cm by 14cm total, not sure if this one is even a fossil or just mineral veins. I would be grateful for any help ID these finds, thanks in advance.

I'm trying to clean the limestone and loose sediment off this speciman. I'm not sure if I am wasting my time. Or if this is a fossil. I'm a novice hoping to find a cool fossil, but old enough to admit failure, if this isn't a fossil. Please help. To me, (the inexperienced novice) lol. It looks like a small skull and neck vertebra of a iguana type??

Hello, I've got 13 fossils of which I'm not sure what they are. All fossils are bought, which is why I can't say much about the geological layer and location they're from. I used a ruler with inches and cm sizing. I don't really have to know the 100% exact specimen (please feel free to give the details though if you have them), I would like to have a general idea of what I'm looking at. 1. Sold to me as bamboo, not sure if it is: 2. Sold as a waterlily, its a cross-section: 3. same story as up. I don't know what it actually is: 4. looks like a lizard foot, but it's probably coral. 5. Some kind of crazy stain?? 6. This is obviously a tooth of a carnivore, I would like to know if its mammalian or from a dinosaur. For this one, I would love to know the specifics but shoot away with your ideas on it. 7. Looks like bone, mammalian? Is it even bone? 8. Another piece of supposed to be bone. 9. Bone/wood? who knows? 10. looks like its bone, but really don't know.. 11. Looks like something from the sea... 12. Could be a tooth of a herbivore, could also be anything else. 13. The last of the bunch, its sold to me as coprolite but it doesn't really look like it. I would love to know your ideas on this collection. I am an amateur collector and I can identify some fossils/stones but for these, I really need your help. Thanks in advance.

Megatron Tooth ID! Redefining Everything We Once thought We Knew

Came across an extraordinarily important scientific find on a large well known auction website surprisingly, this tooth has been IDed by the seller as coming from 'Megatron'. I apologize for the low quality photos but they will provide you with all the evidence you need to make this id, museums and top paleontologist must be contacted and papers rewritten, I strongly believe that transformers are makos in disguise.

This tooth was picked up on fieldwork in Morocco in a mining village called Begaa. So it's provenance is certain. It is very very strange. I have shown it to many experts in the field, and all have come back with 'i don't know'. The root-crown boundary is just at the start of the orange discolouration. I am thinking crocodile or sauropod? But any input or ideas would be great! It is not fabricated in anyway. I have soaked it in acetone and looked at it down a microscope to see any joins... there aren't any! And it's completely free of matrix. So it is definitely real... just really frickin' weird! each square = 2mm, so specimen is about ~2mm in height

Hi guys I found this today,now i'm not sure if this is a fossil or acheological find.I tried burning test,it doesn't burn ,it makes a bit black color and it doesn't smell like burning bone,it smells more like soil.Also can anyone tell me possibly from which animal this is? Thanks

Hello All! New to the forum here...Currently reside in central Texas. Would love some help ID'ing this piece which I found this past weekend on private land in McMullen County, Texas. Not uncommon to find small pieces of petrified wood at this place but this looked a bit different. Looks like it could be fossilized bone. Any ideas? Thanks!

Bone Valley Oddballs - Digested Tooth? Crystal Formations? Bone Predation Marks?

These are finds from the Bone Valley Formation in south Florida. Dry land site a couple of hours south of Tampa. The site is predominately Miocene/Pliocene marine fossils, with some Pleistocene land fauna mixed in. This first find appears to be a operculum of some kind (not sure which species). What interested me, is the little black crystals(?) growing in the attached remnants of matrix rock. I have seen these little black pieces in shelly-matrix from different sites in Bone Valley, and I am curious as to what mineral they might be. Or, are they organic? Could they be phosphate or something else?

This rock has so many different formations, like it's been glued together. Can someone tell me how this can be melted in several places with such odd formation?
